MANAGING THE TONGUE TO FLOW BLESSINGS
The words that come out of your mouth every day carry far more spiritual power than you often realize. A short sentence spoken in a matter of seconds can be medicine that heals a discouraged soul, but conversely, it can also become a sharp dagger leaving deep emotional scars for years. Amidst the fatigue of daily activities or when your emotions are provoked by the unpleasant actions of others, controlling the door of your lips remains one of the greatest challenges in life. It is very easy to release sarcastic remarks, sharp criticisms, or groundless scoldings simply to vent a momentary irritation in your heart.
Managing the tongue does not mean you have to be a hypocrite or afraid to state the truth; rather, it is about the ability to align your speech with love and wisdom. A spiritually mature person will always weigh their words in their mind first before letting them escape through their lips to pierce another person's ears. Building words do not always have to be excessive praise, but sentences containing honesty delivered with gentle respect. When you refuse to participate in gossip, rumor-spreading, or useless debates, you are keeping the atmosphere around you clean from the poison of division.
Practically speaking, you can begin training this tongue control by intentionally holding yourself back from responding immediately when you feel angry or tired. Take a moment to pause, breathe deeply, and replace shouts or sarcasm with firm sentences filled with affection. Start your day by speaking words of sincere appreciation to your spouse, children, or coworkers who have helped with your routines. Use your mouth to declare hope and prayer for your future, rather than constantly voicing complaints about bad luck. By making your words a channel of blessing, you are bringing coolness to thirsty souls around you.
