IF I HAD WINGS
When human beings face the crushing weight of relentless pressure, the immediate impulse is often to wish for wings—a desperate yearning to fly away and find a quiet place of refuge. The psalmist experienced this exact turmoil, making no secret of the fact that his heart was stricken with anguish, fear, and trembling. It is a profoundly unsettling state of mind, one that tempts a person to abandon the battlefield and escape accountability. Yet, even in the grip of such overwhelming distress, the psalmist lifted his eyes beyond his circumstances to the sovereign God. He cried out to the Lord and discovered tangible help right in the middle of his storm. Drawing from this raw experience, he leaves us with a timeless directive: hand all your burdens over to God, because His sustaining care is utterly reliable.
Enduring pressure is rarely about finding an exit door; rather, it is about staying put when God calls us to stand, anchoring ourselves entirely in His strength. Wishing to flee from our problems is a natural human reaction, but spiritual maturity is forged in the furnace of steadfast endurance. Learning to cast our cares upon the Lord is a deliberate spiritual discipline. It requires us to surrender our lives to His overarching purpose and timing, even when doing so demands relinquishing our perceived right to control the outcome.
Entrust your anxieties and your very self to the Lord, and He will sustain your life in ways that defy human expectation. Do not run from the storm; instead, face it with the settled conviction that the Lord holds absolute control over every detail of your existence. God bless you!
