GIVING WITH MERCY
In a world that frequently calculates every transaction based on personal gain, giving to those who have no capacity to repay is routinely dismissed as a bad investment. We naturally gravitate toward relationships or ventures that promise a proportional return. Yet, the Kingdom of God operates on an entirely different economy of grace, where generosity directed toward the needy carries an eternal and profound value. Proverbs 19:17 offers a striking theological reality: when we show mercy to the vulnerable, we are essentially 'lending' to the Lord. Naturally, the Creator of the universe lacks nothing and is never truly in debt to mere mortals, but this deliberate phrasing illustrates how deeply God identifies Himself with the oppressed and the impoverished. Every act of assistance extended to the weak is regarded by God as a service rendered directly to Him, and He personally guarantees the repayment of every expression of love. Loving our neighbors cannot remain a mere internal sentiment of sympathy; it must materialize in daily, tangible actions. When we open our eyes and hearts to a struggling neighbor, a friend seeking comfort, or someone stripped of hope, we function as the extended hands of God. There is no need to fear personal scarcity when sharing what we have, because the Source of all blessings never fails to record the sincerity of our faith and obedience. Everything we possess today is merely entrusted to us by God to be managed with wisdom. When we channel blessings to the weak, we experience the genuine joy of giving. Never withhold kindness when your hands possess the capacity to help those in need. May our lives mirror the active love of Christ, who reached out to redeem us first. Through our generosity, God's name is magnified and our neighbors experience His tangible presence.
