THE KEY TO BLESSING BEGINS ON YOUR KNEES
In the relentless and fast-paced demands of modern life, we often assume that blessings are the direct product of endless hard work, extensive networking, or sharp business strategy. We routinely spend twelve hours a day burning the candle at both ends, pushing our physical limits to the absolute edge. Yet, paradoxically, the very blessings we chase so desperately often remain elusive and out of reach. We forget that a spiritual law operates far above human logic. Today we are reminded of a profound truth of faith: true blessing does not begin with how fast our feet run in pursuit of ambition, but rather with how often our knees bend in surrender within the hidden place.
Looking closely at the biblical text, the Hebrew word for 'blessing' is ืึฐึผืจึธืึธื (Berakah), which derives from the verb ืึธึผืจึทืึฐ (Barak). Interestingly, Barak literally means 'to bend the knee' or 'to kneel'. Ancient Israelites understood from this linguistic root that no one could ever receive BerakahโGod's abundance and favorโwithout first assuming the posture of Barak, bowing in worship before Him. When we sink to our knees in prayer, we are actively stripping away our arrogance, emptying our self-reliance, and honestly confessing our utter inability to navigate life without the sustaining hand of God. Right there, the gateway to true heavenly blessing opens wide over our lives.
Let us approach this week with a fresh perspective. Before stepping out to face a harsh and high-pressure world, seek strength and assurance from God first within the secret place of prayer. For those who spend the most time on their knees before God are the ones who will stand the tallest and strongest when the storms of life strike.
