HONESTY IS NOT ALWAYS LUCKY

Passage: 'How then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?' โ€“ Genesis 39:9

A quiet conference room after a tough decision often conceals deep inner tension. Someone has just refused to sign off on an inflated invoice or declined a questionable compromise. When that righteous choice leads to a passed-over promotion or even sudden dismissal, a painful question echoes: 'Why be honest if it only brings harm?'

Joseph's story in Potiphar's house confronts us with this stark reality. He rejected the advances of his master's wife not by calculating career risks, but out of a deep reverence for God. He asked, 'How then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?' Yet that holy decision did not land him an immediate award; it cast him into the darkness of a dungeon.

Scripture never presents honesty as a guaranteed formula for worldly success or rapid promotion. Joseph's history records God's sovereign providence, not a blanket promise that every faithful person will receive earthly power. We are called to walk in righteousness not because it promises immediate profit, but because the God we serve is infinitely worthy of our obedience. True integrity is proved when staying true costs us dearly.

Today's Reflection Points:
- Integrity Rooted in God: Honesty flows from living continuously before God's face (coram Deo), rather than chasing human applause or professional reputation.
- Obedience Beyond Luck: Commit to doing what is right even when the immediate outcome brings no applause, recognition, or financial gain.

If you are currently paying a heavy price for choosing honesty in your workplace, business, or personal life, know that your stance is not in vain. God never overlooks the quiet faithfulness of His children. The true measure of our life is not determined by how quickly we ascend ladders, but by how faithfully we preserve a clean conscience before Him. Walk forward with courage and peace, knowing His righteous hand holds your ultimate destiny.

God bless you!
