"Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass."
NO WOUND IS HIDDEN
Human beings often spend half their energy just trying to cover up pain, hiding tears behind fake smiles, and convincing the world that everything is fine. This defense mechanism is forged by the fear of rejection, shame over weakness, and social demands to always appear strong. However, living with hidden wounds becomes the heaviest burden that slowly drains mental and spiritual resilience. Inner exhaustion accumulates when a person continuously wears a mask without ever being given space to be honest about the devastation within their heart. The problem is that hiding sores from humans is one thing, but trying to conceal them before God is utter foolishness.
The Book of Psalms consistently records how God's people come to the Creator not with puffed-up chests full of pride, but with weeping, complaints, and uncensored tears. David and the other psalmists never tried to hide their pain, disappointment, or guilt from God's throne. They cried out when feeling abandoned, complained when oppressed, and openly admitted their foolishness without pride. This transparent attitude stems from the conviction that God does not demand artificial perfection, but rather seeks a broken and contrite heart ready to be reshaped by His hands.
In the reality of today's church life, the culture of pretending to be strong often sneaks subtly into Christian fellowship. We come to worship dressed neatly, singing praises loudly, while inside our chests are kept the wounds of betrayal, financial anxiety, or quiet family struggles. God does not need a religious performance that is clean on the surface but rotting within. He calls His people to strip off defense masks and dare to be honest about their fragility. Coming with open wounds to God is not a sign of weak faith, but an act of radical obedience acknowledging His sovereignty over all life's hardships.
Today's Reflection Points:
- Stop Pretending to Be Strong: Honestly acknowledge in private prayer which part of your life is shattered and stop hiding your pain from God.
- Bring Wounds to the Altar: Instead of running to destructive escapes, surrender every disappointment and tear to the God who promises to mend the broken soul.
When the world demands you to always look perfect, remember that God draws near to those whose hearts are broken. He is not disgusted by your tears, and He does not judge the honesty of your despair. In His embrace, the wounds you have hidden in fear find true healing medicine. Let His nail-pierced hands bandage every broken piece of your life today.
God bless you!
