ORDINARY ROD IN GOD'S HAND

Passage: 'And the LORD said unto him, Who hath made man's mouth? or who maketh the dumb, or deaf, or the seeing, or the blind? have not I the LORD? Now therefore go, and I will be with thy mouth, and teach thee what thou shalt say.' โ€“ Exodus 4:11-12 (KJV)

There is a subtle tremor in our chest whenever we face a calling that far exceeds our perceived capacity. Moses felt it deeply at the foot of Mount Horeb. After forty years of obscurity in the wilderness of Midianโ€”tending sheep that were not even his ownโ€”he had grown comfortable with a quiet, ordinary life. So when the Voice from the burning bush commanded him to stand before Pharaoh, his immediate response was a cascade of excuses: 'What if they do not believe me?'

God did not answer Moses' fear by bestowing instantly impressive qualifications or eloquent rhetoric. Instead, He asked a simple question: 'What is that in thine hand?' Moses replied, 'A rod.' Just an ordinary piece of dead wood, a humble shepherd's daily tool. Yet, in the hands of the Almighty, that lifeless stick would part red seas and display divine majesty. God does not demand abundant human resources; He looks for a heart willing to surrender whatever is at hand to His absolute sovereignty. When Moses pleaded his inability to speak, God reminded him who created the human mouth.

Our perceived limitations are often the very canvas where God displays His grace most clearly. What we consider insignificant in our lives is precisely what God can use for His extraordinary purposes.

Today's Reflection Points:
- Surrender Your Humble Tools: Yield whatever small skill, resource, or time you have today into God's hands without hesitation.
- Rest in His Presence: Shift your focus from personal shortcomings to the faithful God who promises to go with you and teach you.

God never makes a mistake when He calls His children for His purpose. When He calls you, He guarantees the strength and wisdom required for the journey. Take the next step even if your heart still trembles, for His power is made perfect in your weakness.

God bless you!
