POOR IN SPIRIT

Jesus began His Sermon on the Mount not by demanding our strength, but by embracing our emptiness.

The word 'poor' used by Jesus in Greek is 'ptochos', depicting extreme poverty—a beggar who has absolutely nothing and must stretch out hands just to survive. This is not merely material lack, but a fully realized spiritual bankruptcy before the holy throne of God. Before Him, all our self-righteousness is but filthy rags. To be poor in spirit means to stop relying on our own strength, wealth, or reputation to navigate a turbulent and unpredictable end-times world. God desires us to have a deep, unshakable dependence on Him, not as an alternative option, but as our only way of salvation.

Deep dependence on Jesus is not a sign of weakness, but the genesis of true strength. When we humble ourselves and confess that without Him we can do nothing, His grace begins to flow abundantly. We learn to bring every anxiety, business decision, and family struggle into intimate prayer, not as a religious routine, but as our absolute lifeline.
