SAVED BY GRACE FOR WORKS
Have you ever observed a master woodcarver working on a rough piece of timber? The wood cannot transform itself into a breathtaking masterpiece. It is the craftsman's skilled hands that select, cut, smooth, and shape it with meticulous devotion. Without the maestro's initiative and artistry, that timber would remain nothing more than an unshaped, worthless piece of wood.
Such is our spiritual condition before Almighty God. The Apostle Paul reminds the Ephesian church that our salvation is entirely an act of grace (charis) from God, received through faith and not the result of our moral or religious merits. The word 'workmanship' in the original Greek is 'poiema', which carries the connotation of a work of art or a handcrafted masterpiece. We are not saved because we have done good works; rather, we are saved unto good works that God has prepared for us beforehand.
Today, realize that your existence in Christ is no cosmic coincidence, but the glorious result of His redeeming artistry. The good works you perform at your workplace, within your family, or in your community are not bargaining chips to earn God's affection, but joyful responses to the grace you have already received. Live today as God's masterpiece, reflecting the beauty of Christ through tangible acts of love.
Today's Reflection Points:
- Salvation is a Free Gift: Stop trying to justify yourself and rest fully in the absolute sufficiency of Christ's finished work on the cross.
- Good Works as Fruit of Faith: Approach every daily duty as an opportunity to serve God and manifest Christ's holy character to the world.
Remember that you are God's 'poiema', a spiritual masterpiece designed with eternal love. Do not let this day pass without sharing His lovingkindness with those around you. Walking in good works is the natural lifestyle of a soul set free by divine grace. When you serve selflessly, the light of Christ shines brightly through your life. Keep walking in faith and be His channel of blessing!
God bless you!
