PERSISTENCE THAT MOVES THE HAND OF GOD
Have you ever found yourself at a place where you are simply exhausted from praying? You have brought the exact same petition before God for months, perhaps even yearsโwhether regarding a chronic illness, financial ruin, or the stubborn rebellion of a family memberโyet the heavens feel like solid brass and God seems entirely silent. In moments of deep despair like this, the enemy is always waiting in the shadows to whisper his favorite lie: 'Stop praying, it is utterly useless; God simply does not care about you.' Yet Jesus Christ teaches the exact opposite through a parable about a persistent widow who refused to give up until a corrupt judge granted her justice. The moral of this story is not that God is a reluctant tyrant who must be badgered into action, but rather that if an unjust judge eventually relents because of persistent nagging, how much more will our loving heavenly Father act on behalf of His chosen ones who cry out to Him day and night? He will surely grant justice to His elect without unnecessary delay. Scripture reminds us in Luke 18:1 that Jesus told this parable to emphasize the necessity of always praying and never losing heart. A delayed answer from God is never a flat rejection; His timing rarely matches our impatient schedules, but His timing is flawless in working out ultimate good. Furthermore, the primary objective of long, tear-filled prayers is rarely to bend God's will to match our selfish desires, but rather to reshape our stubborn hearts until we are fully yielded to His sovereign will. Let us therefore shake off the spiritual weariness that has crept into our prayer lives and refuse to surrender before God whispers 'enough.' Fold your hands, drop to your knees once more, and lift the cry of your heart with an unshakeable faith, because the hand of God is never too short to save you.
