BEHIND THE PRESSURE
There is a wise proverb that says: 'High-quality timber does not grow in easy soil; the stronger the wind that blows, the stronger and firmer the roots of that tree become.' The true quality and strength of a tree are only tested when it manages to stand tall amid a raging storm.
Similarly, our spiritual life undergoes the same process. Pressure, affliction, financial hardship, and physical suffering are forms of formative shaping that God permits us to pass through. The natural reaction of our flesh when facing this process is usually to complain, grumble, grow angry, and begin blaming others, blaming circumstances, and even blaming God. We often forget that God uses tough methods to hone our spirituality, train our faith's resilience, and shape us into individuals of far greater quality than before.
Today's Reflection Points:
- Pressure as Self-Awareness: Viewed from a spiritual lens, life's pressure actually makes us aware of our human limitations. This ultimately drives us to turn away from pride and depend entirely on God.
- Purification Through Suffering: Just as olives must be pressed and crushed before yielding valuable oil, so our lives must be processed so that our spiritual potentials may radiate and glorify His name.
God permits life's pressures to strike you not to destroy you, but because He has a very noble purpose behind that trial. Those difficult seasons are necessary to prove the purity of your faith, which is far more precious than perishable gold. -TPC
