DROPPING RESENTMENT AND LEARNING TO FORGIVE
How do we usually respond when given the opportunity to retaliate against someone who has deeply wounded us? Are we truly capable of opening our hearts to release genuine forgiveness? Forgiving can never change the sequence of painful events that took place in the past, but believe me, forgiveness paves a wide path toward a future filled with peace.
Conversely, harboring bitterness and refusing to forgive is essentially shutting the door of blessing upon your own life. It is admittedly not easy to grant a second chance to those who have betrayed us. Yet, God's word sets an extremely high standard. When Peter asked if forgiving up to seven times was enough, Jesus replied that we must forgive seventy-seven timesโa vivid picture of boundless forgiveness. Beyond that, the Bible explicitly equates hatred with murder. If we nurse grudges in our inner being, we are committing an abomination in God's eyes.
Let us examine the corners of our hearts today. Discard all forms of bitterness and malice. Release forgiveness, because forgiveness is the most beautiful gift you can give, not only to the person who wronged you, but to the peace of your own soul. May the Lord Jesus bless you!
