DO NOT GIVE UP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE REFINING PROCESS
A chunk of raw gold freshly pulled from the depths of the earth will never emit a brilliant luster if it refuses to be thrown into a blazing furnace. A diamond will never possess a fantastic market value if it refuses to be heavily pressured, scraped, and cut with extreme force. Many Christians crave a 'shining' life, to be respected and filled with blessings, but they rebel when God places them into the 'refining kitchen' of problems. When financial crisis storms, betrayal from a friend, or illness strikes, we quickly grumble: 'God, why did You allow something this bad to happen to me?' Yet, it is precisely through pressure and suffering that God is sharpening our spirituality, burning away the dross of pride, and stripping away our worldly entanglements. Problems and suffering are not proof that God has abandoned or hated you; rather, they are signs that He deeply loves you and is fashioning you into a far more majestic masterpiece. Stop begging God to instantly remove every burden from your shoulders. Begin to pray a mature prayer: ask for stronger shoulders, a more spacious heart, and the endurance to finish the process. If today you feel the heat of the 'fire' in life's struggles, be patient and do not jump out of God's process. Remain faithful, persevere in prayer, and guard your heart against bitterness. Be certain that you will soon emerge from that fire as pure gold reflecting His glory. -TPC
