THE POWER OF GIVING THANKS
It is remarkably easy for our lips to shout 'Praise the Lord!' when we receive a job promotion, when our business turns a massive profit, or when our physical bodies are in peak condition. Yet, are we still able to say 'Thank You, Father' when our bank accounts are dwindling, when sickness strikes, or when our carefully laid plans collapse in total failure?
True thanksgiving is not merely an emotional response to favorable circumstances, but an active response of faith toward the unchanging, good character of God. The circumstances surrounding us shift constantly like the weather, but the steadfast love of God never wavers. Let us remember the miracle of the multiplication of the five loaves and two fish. Before that miracle took place, Jesus did not complain or lament over how meager the provisions were. Instead, He looked up to heaven and gave thanks to the Father for what was already in His hands.
Today, let thanksgiving become your lifestyle, not just a casual add-on to your prayers. A heart that continually gives thanks acts as a magnet, drawing the goodness and mercy of God directly into your daily life.
