THE MEDICINE FOR A WOUNDED HEART
Holding onto grudges and bitterness is often compared to drinking poison every day while expecting the other person to die from it. We are the ones consuming that pain, trapped in inner torment, while the person who wronged us is likely living a quiet and happy life. Forgiving is undeniably difficult, especially when the wound inflicted runs deep. Yet, we must realize that forgiveness is not merely an emotion; it is an act of faith. If we wait until our feelings heal and feel pleasant first, we will never be capable of forgiving. We are called to forgive not because the other person deserves it, but because God has already forgiven our vastly greater and unpayable debts.
Bible Verse Reference:
'Instead, be kind to one another, compassionate, forgiving one another, just as God in Christ also forgave you.' โ Ephesians 4:32
Today's Reflection Points:
- Forgiveness Is Not Justification: When we release forgiveness, we are not justifying the wrongful act committed against us; rather, we are setting ourselves free from the shackles of bitterness.
- The Key to Inner Release: As long as you refuse to forgive, you allow the past to hold your future hostage. Forgiveness is the only key capable of unlocking the prison door of your heart.
