MIRACLES FROM WHAT IS IN YOUR HAND
We often hold ourselves back from serving God or helping others because we feel we carry too many 'deficiencies'. We offer a thousand excuses: 'Ah, I am not eloquent in speaking,' or 'I do not have surplus money, what can I possibly give?' We get so busy complaining about what we lack that we completely overlook the valuable potential God has already entrusted directly into our own hands. When God called Moses to shoulder the monumental task of delivering the nation of Israel, Moses repeatedly presented reasons for his inadequacy. Then, God asked him one very simple question: 'What is that in your hand?' Moses answered simply: 'A staff.' Yes, it was merely an ordinary wooden shepherd's staff. Yet, when that ordinary staff was surrendered completely into the sovereignty of an extraordinary God, it possessed the power to divide the Red Sea! God never demands something you do not possess. He simply asks for your willingness to surrender what is already in your possession today. Have some free time? Spend it listening to a burdened friend. Have a little food? Share it. Possess a modest skill? Use it to bless your community. God blesses sincere intentions and actions. Never underestimate the small thing sitting in your hand. Five loaves and two fish in the hands of a little boy were nowhere near enough to feed anyone, but placed in the hands of Jesus, they satisfied five thousand people. Surrender your talent today, and let God weave it into a miracle.
