BECOMING A GOOD LISTENER TO GOD
In human conversations, a common phenomenon is that we are often busier formulating our rebuttal in our minds than truly listening to what our interlocutor is saying. Unfortunately, we often bring this poor communication pattern into our fellowship with God. Let us re-evaluate our prayers. Often, our prayers are merely a monologue containing a shopping list and a lengthy demand for our needs. We speak endlessly, presenting a report of our grievances, and then hastily conclude with the word 'Amen', without giving even a single second of pause for God to speak back into our hearts. In fact, the answers, wisdom, and relief we need most often descend precisely when we decide to keep silent. True wisdom is never measured by how eloquent and long our prayer petitions are, but by how much of God's truth we manage to hear and obey. Starting today, be a good listener to God.
