GOOD FRIDAY – THE PERFECT SACRIFICE

Today, our minds and hearts are anchored upon a monumental event at the hill of Golgotha. You might have once wondered: Why did Jesus, who knew absolutely no sin, have to endure death in such a shameful, brutal, and agonizing way? Did the almighty God truly lack a more elegant way to rescue humanity?

The answer is carved into two inseparable attributes of God: Justice and Love. God's absolute justice demands that every sin be punished with death. Yet on the other hand, His boundless love yearns for our redemption. Therefore, Jesus voluntarily stepped down to take our place. He allowed Himself to become the 'Substitute' for that penalty upon the wooden cross. When He cried out, 'IT IS FINISHED' (Tetelestai), it was not the whimper of defeat, but rather a thunderous proclamation of liberation echoing across the cosmos!

Scripture Reference:
'But God demonstrates his own love for us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.' – Romans 5:8

Today's Reflection Points:
- Total Victory on the Cross: Through the cry 'It Is Finished', human debt of sin has been paid in full without a remainder. The powers of death and darkness have been shattered, and the blocked path to the Father's throne has been flung wide open.
- Responding to Grace: Salvation is free, but its price is immeasurably high. Never squander His holy sacrifice by wallowing in sin and constant compromise.

Let us bow in the dust at the foot of His cross today with broken and deeply grateful hearts. Recognize that every lash and wound upon Him was the purchase price for our healing. Live for Him, who was willing to die for us. -TPC

God bless you!
