ETERNAL INVESTMENT

Passage: 'Do not accumulate for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal. But accumulate for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and thieves do not break in and steal.' โ€“ Matthew 6:19-20

ETERNAL INVESTMENT

Modern financial systems constantly train us to secure our future. We are taught to save diligently, purchase health insurance policies, store precious metals, and invest in real estate assets. Humanly speaking, all these anticipatory actions are good and very wise. Yet amid all this financial busyness, have we ever paused to consider the 'eternal investment' portfolio for the future of our souls after death?

Often, there is a heartbreaking imbalance in the priorities of believers. We become extremely calculating and stingy when it comes to the matters of God's Kingdom, yet remarkably extravagant when dealing with worldly prestige. We readily spend vast sums of money on the latest smartphone or a luxurious vacation, but feel deeply reluctant when expected to give offerings or share a portion of our blessings with the needy, widows, and orphanages.

Scripture reminds us in Matthew 6:19-20 not to store up treasures on earth, but in heaven. The reality is stark: no matter how great the assets you manage to gather in this world, you will leave every single one behind when you breathe your last breath. No coffin has ever been manufactured with a built-in storage drawer for earthly wealth. The only treasures we will carry when standing before the judgment seat of Christ are those we have 'sown' in this worldโ€”time dedicated to God, talents utilized for service, and resources shared to help others.

Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. Let us re-examine our spiritual bank book. Are you busier building your own small empire on earth, or building the Kingdom of God? Remember, the spiritual investment you entrust to God will never experience inflation or bankruptcy.
