AN UNYIELDING FAITH
Every person reacts differently when facing complex problems in life. Some choose indifference, some give up immediately, some run away, while others choose to fight tenaciously. We can draw a valuable lesson from the Syrophoenician woman. When she begged for healing for her demon-possessed daughter, she received a response from Jesus that initially sounded very harsh: 'It is not right to take the children's bread and throw it to the dogs.' Humanly speaking, that woman had every reason to feel insulted, angry, hurt, and to walk away from Jesus. Yet, she recognized her position as an outsider and chose to strip away her pride. She responded with deep humility and extraordinary faith: 'Lord, even the dogs under the table eat the children's crumbs.' It was this unyielding faith that ultimately moved the heart of Jesus to bring about the miracle of healing for her child. If you are facing a dead end today or an unpleasant response from others, do not let anger and disappointment rule your heart. Come prostrate before the Lord with an unyielding faith, and wait for His miraculous help.
