GUARDING AGAINST THE TERMITES OF SIN
Have you ever looked at a massive tree that seemed completely sturdy, only to see it suddenly collapse to the ground? Often, that tree does not fall because of a devastating lightning strike or a raging storm, but because its core has been hollowed out by termites from within. Termites are tiny insects that work silently, and their destruction remains hidden. Yet, the damage they cause is fatal.
Similarly, we often trivialize small sins or compromises that we deem harmless. We rationalize by saying, 'Ah, it is just a small lie,' 'I am just taking a tiny bit of office money; nobody will notice,' or 'I am just looking at something inappropriate for a second; it will not lead to adultery.' Beware! Unchecked minor sins become wide openings for the evil one to undermine our integrity and shatter our character foundation from within.
Let us examine the hidden rooms of our hearts today. Is there a 'termite' of dishonesty, resentment, deceit, or lust quietly gnawing at your soul? Confess it immediately before the Lord and seek His forgiveness. God bless you!
