SOWING IN TEARS
There are times when doing what is right or defending the truth feels utterly exhausting to the soul. It is exceptionally heavy to keep loving a spouse who repeatedly wounds your heart. It feels agonizing to continue serving God and smiling before the congregation while your own inner self carries a mountain of unresolved burdens. Moreover, it demands immense sacrifice to keep giving offerings and helping others when your own personal finances are scraping the bottom of the barrel.
This reality can be likened to a subsistence farmer who must scatter his very last handful of wheat grain into the field, even though he and his starving family have nothing left to eat. This is precisely what is meant by 'sowing with tears'. It is painful, heavy, and full of risk. Yet both the laws of nature and the laws of God share an unyielding certainty: whoever sows will certainly reap. Every single tear that falls as an act of obedience to God is gathered and accounted for in His bottle.
Today's Reflection Points:
- Perseverance that Bears Fruit: Never stop doing good simply because you do not see the results today. Do not stop praying just because the answer seems delayed. Not a single act of obedience is wasted in His sight.
- The Certainty of Harvest: The goodness that you sow with painstaking labor today will eventually grow into a sturdy tree of shelter for your future and the generations to come.
Perhaps today you feel utterly exhausted and tempted to quit the fight. Strengthen your heart! The harvest season will surely arrive for those who do not give up. Your sweat and tears will one day be replaced with shouts of joyful celebration. -TPC
