THE SOCIAL MINISTER OUTSIDE, A STRANGER AT HOME
Have you ever met someone who acts as if they hold the title of 'social minister'? Outside the home, their presence and dedication are extraordinary. When a colleague is grieving, they are the first to arrive. When the church needs volunteers, they are the busiest person coordinating everything. To the public, they are generous, friendly, and anointed heroes. Yet ironically, this same person remains indifferent, deaf, and blind to the emotional cries and needs of their spouse and children at home. They are angels to the outside world, yet transform into cold strangers within their own families.
When faced with the question, 'Which matters more, ministry or family?' The answer is absolute: Family! Unfortunately, the title of church activist is frequently abused as an escape route. Domestic conflict and communication breakdowns with a spouse often drive a person to deliberately seek a 'stage' outside. They chase applause and recognition elsewhere to cover up the reality that their own household foundation is decaying and nearly collapsing.
Today's Reflection Points:
- The Family as the Primary Field: You may succeed in winning the hearts of many people out there, but what use is that ministry if you fail to win the heart of your own family?
- Ministry is Never an Excuse for Neglect: Do not let your children become 'spiritually orphaned' or resent the church because they feel ministry activities have stolen the parents they love away from home.
Let us reevaluate our hierarchy of priorities today. True ministry is not measured by the thunderous applause in church, but by the warmth of love at the family dinner table. Take off your mask of publicity; be a hero first to your own household.
God bless you!
