BEZALEEL: WHEN NON-ACADEMIC TALENTS ARE ANOINTED BY GOD

There is a persistent and mistaken assumption among many churchgoers that God only uses individuals with exceptional public speaking skills or high academic credentials. We often overlook the reality that God deeply values, chooses, and anoints practical craftsmanship, raw creativity, and skilled labor executed with a sincere heart. When God commanded the construction of the Tabernacleโ€”His holy dwelling place among the Israelitesโ€”the very first person explicitly noted by Scripture as being filled with the Holy Spirit was not a high priest or a military commander, but a skilled artisan named Bezalel.

Bezalel may not have possessed the eloquent oratory of Moses or the tactical military genius of Joshua. Instead, he was endowed with extraordinary non-academic proficiency in stone carving, wood engraving, and the intricate shaping of gold, silver, and bronze. In Exodus 31:3, God declares: 'and I have filled him with the Spirit of God...' which in the Hebrew text reads as ื•ึธืึฒืžึทืœึตึผื ืึนืชื•ึน ืจื•ึผื—ึท ืึฑืœึนื”ึดื™ื (va'amalle otho ruach Elohim). This account demonstrates that in God's eyes, your child's motor intelligence and practical talentsโ€”whether in drawing, cooking, mastering technology, or the artsโ€”represent a genuine form of divine wisdom that can be anointed to serve as a powerful instrument for His glory.

Today's Reflection Points:
1. Valuing Diverse Talents: Success is not restricted to corporate office desks or the attainment of prestigious academic degrees. Becoming a diligent, honest expert in practical or non-academic fields is an equally noble calling before God.
2. Dedicating Talent to God: Our task as parents is to guide our children so that their non-academic gifts are never used for arrogance, but rather to help others and build up the work of God.

When your children show a strong interest in practical pursuits and creative endeavors outside of traditional school subjects, never crush their enthusiasm with dismissive words. Support their talents seriously and bathe those skills in prayer so they always remain under God's guidance. Because in the hands of the Creator, a faithful craftsman is just as valuable as any prominent leader.
